Gapstow Bridge, Central Park

Just us and the tourists on a beautiful April afternoon.

Drama through sunlight and fun shadows, budding trees, cherry blossoms, skyline with buildings, some figures—this painting pretty much hit all of the goals I set for myself with this image. My only regret is the windows on the building. Put them in, take them out, ignore them? Next time I do this type of subject I’ll rethink them, but for now they are a permanent fixture in this scene.

The Gapstow Bridge in Central Park may not be the prettiest span in the park, but it does have an elegant simplicity to it. Iconic New York City in the Spring, yeah.
