Prospect Avenue Sunset

A beautiful winter sky is the perfect excuse to sling some paint.

After weeks of painting greens and details I have needed some new vistas to work with.

This week it was warm enough to do a quick 10″x14″ plein air in Prospect Park.

Painting at the lake has helped, as well as this violently-colorful sunset that I observed a few weeks ago from my front porch. I’m enjoying just sloshing paint around and having a lot less specific details to capture. The change of color palette is just what’s needed too, and this sunset painting took three days instead of weeks. Can Spring be far behind?
