Warming Up with Ginger Cookies

Testing techniques

Not enough time and concentration to paint this week—somehow this composition did emerge from a few hours of work, helped along with some good music. I played with several different painting techniques, including dry brush, scrubbing and masking fluid to protect the highlights in the cup and the honey bear. Masking fluid is not my favorite thing to work with, but it does make it easier to paint around those teeny paper-white places.

Next up, tomorrow, it’s back to working large on a Prospect Park landscape.
