Orchid Study

Last class of the semester. Got to use favorite colors in the orchid: alizarin crimson, rose madder, some quin rust, and a little pthalo blue. The flower’s markings on the interior petals reminded me of ink dropped onto a wet surface. I tried to get that effect with this study.

Time stands still when I’m working on a painting, and aside from standing up to stretch every so often, and remembering to change the murky water to clean water to paint with, I could paint for hours…

Merci, M. Ponsot.
