Prospect Park Fall Vista

The color is there, waiting to be discovered

It seems so basic, so obvious, that fall provides an artist with a lot of eye candy to work with. My photographs certainly have a lot of rich color, tones and contrast, but it’s not until I use that information to create paintings, that I achieve the color that is so satisfying to work with. I like to exaggerate every tone just a little bit to push saturation and tones. As my high school art teacher used to drill into me, “Put your lightest lights next to your darkest darks.” Worked back then, works today.
