Water Lilies at Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Too small, too detailed, had a hard time getting the dark values intense enough, but resorted to phthalo blue—a very brilliant turquoise—to deepen the water reflections. Sometimes, as my friend Sally says, the experience of painting is as satisfying as the finished result. I think this is true of this piece.
