Coney Island Monday #3

This summer is not over

Monday, post Labor Day, was a very foggy afternoon, and it was hard to distinguish where the sky met the ocean. Back in the studio, I decided to paint the scene with ambiguity. Cormorants having a party on the rock jetty blended together as one shape, nicely silhouetted against the ocean. The young girl was added in for scale and interest and I’m glad I put her in—she was fun to paint.
